Three Kenyan students are currently visiting the Faculty of Health Sciences at Palacký University (FZV UP) as part of the Erasmus+ programme for partnerships with non-European countries, with their stay running from February through to early June. Zipporah Ayako, Davis Mang'are and Chalengat Paul — nursing and midwifery students from the Catholic University of East Africa in Nairobi — have been placed at the Department of Nursing, where the majority of their time is devoted to clinical practice in the intensive care unit of the University Hospital Olomouc.

The students have responded enthusiastically to their placement thus far, expressing particular appreciation for the attentive and supportive approach of their mentors as well as the modern medical equipment at their disposal. By their own account, the local climate and cuisine came as something of a surprise; nonetheless, they speak highly of the exceptional opportunity to acquire new skills and regard the stay as an outstanding professional experience they would unreservedly recommend to fellow students.

In collaboration with the Department of Midwifery and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the students will also have the opportunity to gain insight into the workings of the clinic as a whole. Through the university's Welcome Office, they will be introduced to both Czech and international students. Weather permitting, they also plan to explore Prague and the wider Central European region.

Delegation from the FZV UP visiting Nairobi these days will try to open further opportunities both for students and academic Exchange. In June, the exchange will proceed in the reverse direction, as doctoral candidate Jakub Tatarka is set to travel to Kenya for a period of one month.
