On 3–4 September 2026, the 46th Annual Meeting of the Erasmus Radiography Group (ERG) took place at the University of Malta. The Faculty of Health Sciences of Palacký University Olomouc was represented by Jiří Kozel, Erasmus Coordinator of the Department of Radiological Methods. For the Faculty of Health Sciences, this was the first annual ERG meeting attended after Palacký University joined this international network.
The University of Malta, which hosted this year’s meeting, prepared a two-day programme for coordinators from partner universities, focusing mainly on the further development of student mobility within ERG and the planning of exchanges for the coming years. Discussions also addressed the structure of international mobility programmes, which combine academic teaching, practical experience and the opportunity to become familiar with the environment and culture of the host country. Another important topic was the strengthening of cooperation between partner universities and the development of new opportunities for joint research activities.
The programme also included a Student Market, during which partner universities presented ERG mobility opportunities to radiography students at the University of Malta. The Faculty of Health Sciences of Palacký University presented the opportunities for mobility in Olomouc and the academic and professional environment available to incoming students.
The hosts also gave participants the opportunity to learn more about the facilities of the University of Malta and the clinical departments involved in the education of local radiography students. The programme included a visit to Mater Dei Hospital, the university hospital, and tours of the diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy departments.
From January 2027, radiography students from the Faculty of Health Sciences will also become actively involved in ERG mobility programmes. The first students from partner universities will arrive in Olomouc, while our students will travel for three-month study periods to Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands and Slovenia. ERG mobility is designed to combine theoretical education, professional practice and experience of the academic and cultural environment of the host country.
“For our radiography students, membership in ERG is an opportunity to gain experience at partner universities during their studies and to discover different approaches to education and clinical practice. Each partner university offers a specifically focused programme in the field of radiography, allowing students to deepen their knowledge and experience in a particular area of the profession. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for us to show incoming students what we can offer – high-quality education, a wide range of professional placements thanks to our close cooperation with University Hospital Olomouc, and the attractions of our university city,” said Jiří Kozel.
In September next year, the annual ERG meeting will take place in Olomouc and will be hosted by Palacký University. The Faculty of Health Sciences will therefore have the opportunity to welcome coordinators from partner European universities and present its educational and professional facilities directly in Olomouc.
